DÉJÀ VU

Returns & Exchanges Policy

This policy applies to all online purchases made through Déjà vu. By placing an order, you ('the Buyer') agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Return Eligibility

Déjà vu accepts change-of-mind returns within 14 days of delivery. These conditions apply to change-of-mind returns only — if an item is faulty or not as described, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply instead (see Section 7):

The return request must be made within 14 days of the item being delivered to you

The item must be unworn, unwashed, and show no signs of wear, damage, or alteration

The item must be returned in its original packaging, with all tags and labels still attached

Items that do not meet these conditions will not be accepted and will be sent back to the Buyer at their own cost

2. Return Shipping

For change-of-mind returns, return shipping is the responsibility of the Buyer. This means:

The Buyer must pay for postage to send the item back to Déjà vu

Déjà vu does not provide prepaid return labels

We recommend using a tracked shipping service, as Déjà vu is not responsible for change-of-mind returns lost or damaged in transit. Where an item is faulty or misdescribed, Déjà vu will cover or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs (see Section 7)

3. Exchanges

Déjà vu is happy to facilitate change-of-mind exchanges, however please note the following important process:

Because we do not hold or reserve items, we are unable to place a piece on hold while awaiting a return

To complete an exchange, the Buyer must first return their original item following the standard return process outlined in this policy

Once the return is received and approved, the Buyer will be issued store credit for the value of the returned item

The Buyer can then use this store credit to repurchase the new item of their choice through our website

As all items on Déjà vu are one-of-a-kind preloved pieces, we cannot guarantee availability of a desired item by the time a return is received and processed. We recommend acting quickly if there is a specific item you wish to exchange into.

3.    Post the item back to Déjà vu at your own cost, using a tracked shipping method.

4.    Once received, our team will inspect the item to confirm it meets the return conditions.

5.    If approved, you will be asked to provide your bank account details for the refund.

6.    Your refund will be processed within 30 days of the return being approved.

6. Items That Cannot Be Returned

The following will not be accepted for return or refund:

Items showing any sign of wear, including makeup, deodorant, or perfume marks

Items missing original tags, labels, or packaging

Items returned after the 14-day window has passed

Items purchased as final sale or clearance, where indicated at the time of purchase. Note: none of these exclusions apply where an item is faulty or misdescribed — your Australian Consumer Law rights (Section 7) always apply, including to final sale items

7. Faulty or Misdescribed Items — Your Australian Consumer Law Rights

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

These rights apply to all items sold by Déjà vu, including preloved, final sale, and clearance items. As our items are preloved, 'acceptable quality' takes into account the age, price, and condition described in each listing — fair wear consistent with the listing description is not a fault

If an item is faulty, unsafe, significantly different from its description or photos, or doesn't do what you'd reasonably expect, contact us with your order number and photos of the issue

For a major failure you may choose a full refund or (where available) a replacement; for a minor failure we will provide a remedy, which may be a repair, replacement, or refund

Refunds under this section are made to your original payment method, without undue delay, and Déjà vu will cover or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs

The 14-day window, condition requirements, store credit process, and exclusions in this policy apply to change-of-mind returns only and do not limit your Australian Consumer Law rights

8. Buyer Acknowledgement

By placing an order with Déjà vu, the Buyer confirms they understand and agree to the following:

Change-of-mind returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery, with return shipping paid by the Buyer

Items must be returned unworn, with original packaging and tags intact

Exchanges require a completed return first, followed by repurchase using store credit

Change-of-mind refunds are processed within 30 days of return approval, via direct bank transfer, and require the Buyer to provide valid bank details

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies the Buyer's rights under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)); remedies for faulty or misdescribed items are set out in Section 7
